11 New WoW Classes Revealed in Forever Survey
Blizzard is stirring the waters of classic Azeroth, and the latest waves are promising something truly exciting for players looking to redefine the old-school experience in World of Warcraft: Forever. While the game is gearing up to introduce fresh quests and zones, the real buzz is centered around the potential for entirely new classes—ideas that bridge the gap between classic WoW lore and modern fantasy.
Over the years, Blizzard has expanded the roster with classes like the Death Knight, Monk, Demon Hunter, and Evoker. Now, in the context of the upcoming Forever expansion, the focus has shifted to imagining what fresh roles could be added to the “vanilla” version of the game. To gauge this creative appetite, Blizzard recently pushed a survey to select players via the Battle.net launcher, sparking an avalanche of speculation and creative ideas among the community.
The results, which include eleven potential classes, reveal a fascinating blend of nostalgia and pure fantasy. Some ideas are simply revitalizing established archetypes, while others dive deep into mythological realms that promise unique gameplay mechanics. Among the ideas that landed on the table are the familiar, yet reimagined, versions of existing classes like the Monk, Demon Hunter, and Death Knight, suggesting that the most dynamic changes might come from updating familiar structures.
However, it is the eight completely novel concepts that are generating the most excitement. Imagine a class like the Tinker, the ultimate engineer capable of wielding mech suits and gadgets to tank and support. Then there is the Necromancer, drawing inspiration from classics like Diablo 2 with abilities like Bone Spear and Corpse Explosion. These concepts promise mechanical depth and unique playstyles far beyond the traditional spellcasters and melee warriors.
The fantasy element is equally strong. The concept of the San’layn, a lineage of vampires free from the Lich King’s shadow, hints at a class focused on blood-based abilities, potentially mirroring the power of a Blood Death Knight. Similarly, the Warden class taps into the iconic Night Elf lore, positioning players as hunters tasked with eradicating Azeroth’s greatest threats.
Further enriching the landscape are the Runemaster, Metalborn, and Runeknight, beings infused with the power of the Titans and utilizing rune-based systems for both healing and combat. These concepts beautifully tie into the core mechanics of the game, suggesting that players could forge identities based on raw elemental power and ancient knowledge.
The survey also highlighted refreshing spellcasting roles. The addition of the Bard offers a classic healer and support role for buffing allies, while the Witch and Illusionist introduce distinct flavors of magic. The Witch embraces dark powers and blood rituals, while the Illusionist specializes in summoning creatures and conjuring objects to aid in battle.
While the final roster of new classes remains to be seen, the sheer breadth of creative possibility is electrifying. Whether these ideas fully materialize in WoW: Forever is yet to be determined, but Blizzard has given players plenty to look forward to. In the meantime, players can already dive into the massive content drop, including over 1,000 new quests, four new zones, and an account-wide Legacy perk system as the beta continues.
The WoW: Forever beta is currently live and running until October 21, setting the stage for a truly dynamic and diverse future for Azeroth.
