Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 September 2026

This policy explains what information Video Game Freaks (https://videogame.nrgnews.net) and its sibling NRG News Network publications (the "Sites") collect, why, and the choices you have. It's operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] ("we", "us").

Information we collect

We collect two kinds of information:

  • Usage data, via Google Analytics — pages viewed, approximate location (derived from your IP address), device/browser type, and how you arrived at the Site.
  • Approximate country, via a lookup to the third-party service ipapi.co, used only to localize outbound Amazon links to your regional Amazon store (e.g. amazon.co.uk instead of amazon.com). This lookup result is cached in your browser (cookie and/or local storage) for up to 24 hours so it isn't repeated on every page.

We don't operate user accounts, and we don't ask you to submit personal information (like your name or email address) simply to read the Sites.

Cookies

The Sites use a small number of cookies:

  • Analytics — set by Google Analytics to distinguish visitors and sessions.
  • Localizationuser_country_code, set by us for up to 24 hours, storing only a two-letter country code used to pick the right Amazon regional store. It's shared across every NRG News Network site (*.nrgnews.net) so the lookup isn't repeated as you move between them.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the Sites will still work, but Amazon links will default to the US store. [PLACEHOLDER — if you serve EEA/UK visitors, confirm whether you need a cookie-consent banner under the ePrivacy Directive/UK PECR before relying on this section alone.]

Third parties we use

  • Google Analytics — traffic/usage measurement.
  • ipapi.co — IP-to-country lookup for Amazon link localization; your IP address is sent to ipapi.co for this purpose.
  • Google Subscribe with Google — powers the "Add as preferred source" button on some pages; Google may set its own cookies when this loads. See Google's Privacy Policy for how Google handles that data.
  • Amazon Associates — outbound links to Amazon carry an affiliate tag; Amazon's own privacy policy governs data collected once you land on their site.

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it with third parties except as described above or where required by law.

Children's privacy

The Sites aren't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 where a higher age applies under local law, such as in parts of the EEA).

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or to opt out of analytics tracking. To exercise these, contact privacy@nrgnews.net. [PLACEHOLDER — expand this section if you serve a meaningful volume of EEA/UK (GDPR) or California (CCPA) traffic; those regimes have specific disclosure requirements beyond this generic scaffold.]

Data retention

[PLACEHOLDER — state how long Google Analytics data is retained (configurable in your GA property settings) and confirm the 24-hour figure above matches the current cookie/localStorage TTL in the code.]

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Sites change; the "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
