President and CEO of The Pokémon Company, Tsunekazu Ishihara, shared a treasure trove of developments, signaling a dynamic future for the franchise that spans competitive play, cinematic adventures, and new digital experiences.
One of the most anticipated announcements centered on the cinematic landscape. For the first time in seven years, a brand-new animated Pokémon movie titled Pokémon Wild Card is slated for release in 2027. A sneak peek during the closing ceremonies showcased the charm of the film, featuring a Pokémon TCG player alongside the mysterious Mimikyu, promising a captivating new adventure for fans to follow.
The competitive side of the universe is also undergoing a massive overhaul. Regulation changes have been implemented for Pokémon Champions, introducing the exciting M-C regulation. This update incorporates powerful additions like Rillaboom and Baxcalibur, alongside brand-new Z-Megas, including Mega Absol Z, Mega Lucario Z, and Mega Garchomp Z. Adding further drama, the highly anticipated Mega Heatran was also teased, setting the stage for intense competitive battles.

A recent Trading Card Game teaser unveiled a new “series logo” featuring ex★(ex-Star), the debut of Mega Lucario Z, and a collection of “Mega attack rare cards.” This collection includes powerful forms of Mega Darkrai, Mega Greninja, Mega Rayquaza, and Mega Zygarde, along with hints of the Legendary Beasts from Johto, Suicine, Raikou, and Entei.
In the world of Pokémon UNITE, the Eevee line is expanding rapidly. Fans can look forward to the arrival of Flareon, Jolteon, Morpeko, and Toxtricity, rounding out the Eevee family with eight playable evolutions. These new additions will be rolled out across September and October, bringing fresh tactical depth to the game.
The competitive landscape in UNITE recently saw Zeta Division secure the world championships, marking a significant milestone for the game. Plans are already in motion for a separate, dedicated tournament next year, tentatively scheduled as the Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo.
