Assassin’s Creed remakes are gone Ubisoft focuses on Hexe and Invictus

Ubisoft Hits the Pause Button on Assassin’s Creed Remakes, Pivoting to Pure Creative Freedom

The massive franchise known for its stealth action and historical settings is taking a strategic detour. Ubisoft has officially announced that they are putting the brakes on development for further Assassin’s Creed remakes at this time, marking a significant shift in the studio’s creative direction.

Despite having gathered a “tremendous amount” of knowledge from recent experiences, particularly from titles like Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, the company has decided to redirect its energy. This move signals a focus away from revisiting past narratives and toward crafting entirely new, thrilling experiences.

Instead of looking backward, Ubisoft is now putting the focus squarely on an exciting future. This new creative mandate promises to introduce elements that promise to elevate the franchise further, including incorporating themes like witches, developing a stronger sense of narrative cohesion across the games, and potentially exploring ambitious crossovers—perhaps even an Assassin’s Creed Smash Bros equivalent.

This pivot reflects a desire to generate fresh excitement, leveraging the established world while introducing completely new gameplay and story opportunities. It’s a clear indication that the studio is prioritizing innovative storytelling and game mechanics over simply rehashing familiar history.

While the roadmap for the future is being drawn, development doesn’t stop entirely. In the immediate term, Ubisoft is still actively working on adding new content and features to their existing major projects. Both Assassin’s Creed Resynced and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will continue to receive updates and expansions, ensuring the current player base remains engaged.
