When you create a gothic adventure filled with epic action and brooding heroes, you often attract more than just players—you attract a passionate, expressive fanbase. For the developers behind Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, this enthusiasm has recently taken a decidedly playful turn, leading to an unexpected celebration of their characters.

The developers, Evil Empire, have openly acknowledged the wave of fan art, and even the more suggestive creations, inspired by their game’s characters. When pressed about the “thirsty” fan art circulating online, lead designer Sandro Bordier admitted that the attention is certainly real, stating that things have “started already—like, man, have we seen some things.”

Evil Empire isn’t entirely surprised by the lewd drawings, recognizing that their characters naturally spark interest. In a candid discussion, Bordier emphasized that this interest is part of the vibe. “Yes, like we know some characters are hot. It’s a choice, actually. Like it’s a vibe. We’re pretty proud of it,” he noted, adding that the team was genuinely happy with the fan reactions regarding the characters they revealed.

The joy from the community seems to be a welcome, if slightly overwhelming, experience. Marketing director Bérenger Dupre joked about the phenomenon, suggesting there should be a special recognition for these captivating figures. He famously quipped, “There should be a Game Awards for hot dads.”

While the lighthearted banter is fun, the team remains focused on the core creative experience. Dupre pointed out that seeing the fan engagement, whether positive or intense, is always emotional. He added that while they are busy crafting new, fresh stories with these beloved characters, the current reception is very much felt.

Beyond the fan art, the game itself continues to impress critics and players. Reviews highlight the game’s compelling blend of enigmatic puzzles, a gothic atmosphere, a dramatic anime-esque storyline, and well-paced action, cementing its status as a triumphant return for the iconic franchise.
