Count Binface, who is campaigning for the Member of Parliament seat in Clacton, has taken his plea beyond traditional politics. He has directly called on Sega to reopen its cherished West End Arcade and push for a proper update to the legendary Shenmue 4 game, ensuring fans don’t have to wait on years for the next chapter.

“I need to say a galactic hello to Sega, on behalf of the Shenmue fans,” Count Binface stated in a recent video. He articulated a desire to harness the power of the fan community to ensure no further delays regarding updates. He even mused about rebooting Sega World in London’s Trocadero and bringing back classic icons like Sonic the Hedgehog.

This vision taps into a deep vein of nostalgia, reminding us of an era when arcades were fixtures of London’s West End. The Trocadero arcade, which was part of the iconic SegaWorld experience in London, sadly closed down in 2011 as Sega faced shifting business landscapes.

While Count Binface is navigating a competitive by-election against Nigel Farage and other candidates in Clacton-on-Sea, his campaign has successfully harnessed gaming passion to garner support. He is asking Sega not just for a game update, but for the revival of an experience that defines a generation of gamers.

Meanwhile, the world of Shenmue fans has recently faced its own set of hurdles. The community experienced disappointment when a fake trailer for Shenmue 4 went viral earlier this year. In response, the studio founded by creator Yu Suzuki considered taking legal action against the creator of the misleading content.
