Get ready to dive into a realm where history bleeds into the supernatural. The voice cast for the upcoming soulslike Valor Mortis has been revealed, and the lineup is as epic and unexpected as the world they are building.

One of the most striking additions to the roster is Adam “Nergal” Darski, who steps into the demanding role of Captain Raphael. With the same intensity that defines his work in the black metal band Behemoth, players can anticipate a truly dramatic and visceral performance from Darski as the character.

But Darski’s involvement isn’t new. He brings a surprising depth to the cast, having previously voiced The Black Cat in the 2022 title Blacktail and served as the narrator for Apocalipsis: The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil in 2018.

The narrative framework for Valor Mortis is steeped in the grim realities of alternate history. Set in a haunting 19th-century Eastern Europe, the land is ravaged by a supernatural plague triggered by the endless conflict of Napoleon’s war. Players will follow William, played by Alexander, as he struggles for survival against his former comrades, who have been twisted into undead monsters.

The game promises a stunning blend of brutal action and deep lore. The setting alone suggests a visually rich world where the shadows hold deadly secrets.

The voice talent is stacked with cinematic heavyweights. Napoleon Bonaparte will be portrayed by Vincent Cassel, an actor known for his presence in films like Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen, as François Toulour.

Other roles are filled by celebrated actors, including Mars Lipowski, known for his commanding portrayal of Sobieslaw “Gromsko” Kosciuszko in the Call of Duty franchise, who will take on Lucjan Skawinski. Will De Renzy-Martin, who played Coen in The Blood of Dawnwalker, will bring James Stewart to life, while Yvan Chamouiseau will step into the shoes of Louis Moreau.

The roster continues to impress with other major castings, featuring Jennifer English (known for roles in Baldur’s Gate 3 and Expedition 33) as The Shrike, and James Alexander (from Crimson Desert) as William Dowsett.

Mark your calendars: Valor Mortis is set to launch on October 13 on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. The game will be priced at $40, a decision the developer made due to a jam-packed release schedule.
