Capcom opens first U.S. merch pop-up in Los Angeles
Get ready, gamers! Capcom, the powerhouse behind some of gaming’s most iconic franchises, is bringing its legendary world to Los Angeles in a major retail event. The company is launching its first official retail store experience in the U.S. with a highly anticipated pop-up shop set to take place in the vibrant Little Akihabara district of Little Tokyo.
Mark your calendars for this adventure. The grand opening kicks off on Saturday, September 19th, and the fun will run through October 18th. Fans can explore the shop, snag exclusive merchandise, and experience playable demos of upcoming titles, including the much-awaited Mega Man: Dual Override.
The pop-up location, Little Akihabara Popup Shop & Live, will be open daily from 12pm to 7pm at 319 E 2nd St. #122. It’s more than just a shop; it’s a destination for fellow enthusiasts, offering everything from plushies and T-shirts to keychains and other collectible items.
Adding to the excitement, Capcom is rolling out some spectacular features. The store will feature life-size statues of fan-favorite characters from both Street Fighter and Mega Man, allowing visitors to bring their heroes right into the shop. Attendees will also get a chance to play various demos of Capcom’s acclaimed games.
To celebrate the opening, the first 50 shoppers on September 19th and 20th will receive a limited-edition Tokyo Game Show handkerchief, making these early shoppers instant collectors of a unique piece of memorabilia.
This retail celebration is perfectly timed, reflecting Capcom’s phenomenal success. The studio has had an incredible year, fueled by blockbuster titles. For instance, Resident Evil Requiem shattered records, selling 7 million units. Pragmata followed closely, selling 2 million units in just two weeks, signaling strong potential for sequels. Furthermore, the critically acclaimed Onimusha: Way of the Sword earned a perfect 10 out of 10 review score from IGN.
With this momentum, Capcom is actively focusing on re-activating and reigniting popular intellectual properties, looking to bring back IPs like Dino Crisis, Dead Rising, and Lost Planet.
