Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse Early Access
The world of classic horror and gothic adventure is about to get a fresh coat of blood and magic. Konami has officially dropped a free demo for Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, giving fans an early look at what promises to be a deep dive into the celebrated metroidvania genre.
Set to hit the digital shelves, this early taste of the title will be available on October 1, allowing players to experience the opening chapter before the full release on October 15. This initial look is designed to immediately transport players into the heart of the action, kicking off a thrilling narrative where Rose and Trevor Belmont find themselves thrust into the burning city of Paris, only to be split apart by fate.
The demo invites players to wield Rose’s sword and magical tarot cards as she confronts a horde of classic franchise foes, including zombies and skeletons. More than just a simple platformer, the game promises a unique twist on combat, focusing on the exciting mechanic of turning tough bosses into powerful friends, suggesting a more interactive and relational approach to challenging encounters.
Behind this latest entry are the talents of Evil Empire Studio and Motion Twin, a duo known for crafting engaging experiences. While Evil Empire Studio has previously delivered acclaim with titles like The Rogue Prince of Persia, the team is signaling a clear focus: this title is pure, classic Castlevania, steering clear of the roguelite formula that some might expect.
Adding to the anticipation is the casting news. Konami recently announced the voice actors for the game, ensuring that Dracula will sound instantly familiar to many long-time fans, as Graham McTavish is reprising his role as the elder vampire.
From a technical standpoint, the game is designed to be accessible across various platforms. Depending on the system, the demo and full game will require between 3GB and 6GB of storage space, with the largest files available for the PS5. Performance settings will vary by console; while Sony’s PlayStation, Xbox Series X|S, and PC are slated to run at a smooth 60fps, the Nintendo Switch version will operate at 30fps.
As the countdown begins for the full release on October 15, the promise of classic adventure blended with modern combat mechanics suggests that Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is set to deliver a truly unforgettable legacy.
