The world of gaming often finds itself in a constant state of refinement, and the title Control Resonant is no exception. Developer Remedy has recently rolled out a patch aimed directly at refining the experience, addressing some of the early criticisms leveled against the game regarding combat flow and enemy health.

While initial reviews offered generally positive scores, some players felt the pacing was occasionally drawn out, noting that the protagonist, Dylan, and the enemies lacked the necessary punch to make the action feel immediate and powerful. Remedy listened to this feedback, and the response was swift: a substantial update was delivered alongside the game’s launch, designed to inject more dynamism into the core gameplay.

The heart of the update focuses on balancing combat. Developers acknowledged that the initial feel of Dylan’s combat strength did not fully align with the expectations of a high-stakes action RPG. To correct this, Remedy implemented changes that fundamentally adjust the flow of engagement. This included reducing the base health of numerous enemies and shortening the stun duration for most adversaries, which directly impacts the pace of combat.

This adjustment extends to major encounters, specifically modifying the experience of boss fights, such as those against the Dancer and Deserter. Furthermore, the patch also boosted the maximum Aberrant and Ability strengths, ensuring that the challenges remained demanding while significantly improving the overall gameplay feel and responsiveness.

Beyond combat mechanics, the patch brought convenience to the player experience. Remedy made the process of character progression smoother by increasing the stock of “Reset Items” available across various game vendors. UI updates were also integrated, providing a tidier, more intuitive interface for players navigating the world of Control.

Of course, any major release comes with its own technical considerations. Unfortunately, for PC players who had pre-loaded the game on Steam, the timing of this patch—released just an hour before launch—triggered certain platform mechanisms, forcing players to download the entire 92 GB game again. Remedy acknowledged this inconvenience, issuing an apology for the disruption and promising to learn from the experience to prevent such issues in the future.

Despite the temporary frustration of re-downloading, the focus remains squarely on the quality of the game itself. For those ready to dive back in, this patch offers a tangible improvement, promising a more polished, responsive, and engaging adventure than the early experience provided.
