Cyberpunk 2077 quest prequel for Edgerunners 2
The world of Cyberpunk 2077 is about to get a serious upgrade. CD Projekt Red has unveiled a hefty slate of features and content for the upcoming 2.5 update, promising deep lore dives, dynamic new gameplay mechanics, and unprecedented mod support for console players.
The centerpiece of the update is a new quest designed to pull players deep into the narrative fabric of Night City. This epic new mission serves as a direct prequel to the story unfolding in Cyberpunk Edgerunners Season 2, offering fans an exclusive look behind the scenes. The quest follows the final job of Weak Kingsley’s team and promises to feature iconic voice actors, including Clancy Brown, bringing beloved characters right into the game world.
Beyond the main storyline, the immersion into Night City will be significantly enhanced with new auditory and experiential content. Fans of the Edgerunner aesthetic will gain access to a dedicated radio station featuring sixteen tracks from both seasons of the Netflix series. Furthermore, players can explore the metropolis through a new Night City Tours activity narrated by Richard Night, adding fresh, interactive layers to the urban landscape.
For the modding community, the update delivers perhaps its most significant boon yet. CD Projekt Red is integrating Mod support directly onto consoles—PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2—via Mod.io, mirroring the successful structure of The Witcher 3 Remastered. This means players can enjoy expanded and custom content in a way never before possible, even including a dedicated section for adult mods.
In terms of core gameplay, the developers are introducing exciting new ways to customize your character and combat style. Players can now alter their Cyberware with forty new visual looks, allowing for unprecedented cosmetic expression. The roster is also expanding with five new characters introduced as “Glamdocs,” each boasting new mocap, voiceovers, and unique styles, adding fresh personalities to the world.
The combat system also receives a significant refinement with the introduction of dual-wielding. This feature allows players to effectively use pistols and revolvers together, unlocking new tactical possibilities. While bonuses from individual weapons will carry over, developers noted there will be specific limitations attached to this mode, ensuring balance across the board.
On the technical front, the team has implemented several crucial fixes, most notably the addition of a Field of View (FOV) slider on consoles, a change that many consider arguably the most impactful technical improvement. With these exciting additions, players can look forward to a truly expanded and deeply personalized experience in Night City.
