The worlds of theme parks and digital adventure are about to collide in a spectacular fashion. Disney has made a massive investment in Epic Games, forging a deep synergy between the immersive experience of Fortnite and the magic of its theme parks, and the integration is now unfolding.

This exciting partnership is bringing physical thrill directly into the digital realm. As revealed at Disney’s D23 event, Smugglers Run at Disneyland and Walt Disney World is now linked directly to the game. Visitors who participate in the interactive motion simulator attraction, where they pilot the Millennium Falcon and collect crates for the pirate Hondo Ohnaka, can now unlock valuable content within Fortnite.

The integration is more than just a simple reward; it’s an invitation to explore. Epic Games has introduced a brand new Fortnite island called Smugglers Gambit, transporting players to the remote planet of Ord Ryla and the station of Mersa Veta. This new environment throws players into a high-stakes co-op adventure.

On this island, players can team up with friends to tackle co-op missions, battle pirates and Imperial remnants, encounter dangerous wildlife, and build their reputation across the Outer Rim. With Hondo Ohnaka as their guide, the opportunities for things to go wonderfully right—or spectacularly wrong—are endless.

To make this cross-world experience seamless, players simply need to connect their Epic Games and MyDisney accounts. This integration is officially live, having launched on Sunday, August 16, at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Among the initial perks, players can instantly unlock exclusive items, such as the Forsworn Trooper Outfit.

This massive collaboration is backed by a shared vision. Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro has been a strong advocate for video games and personally spearheaded the investment and collaboration with Epic Games. His vision extends beyond simple cross-promotions, hinting at a future where players might even be able to purchase Disney Cruise Line tickets or watch classic Disney movies directly inside the game.

The integration is just the beginning. Disney is also actively working on expanding this shared universe, with plans to introduce an Arc Raiders-style game featuring beloved Disney characters within Fortnite, promising even more adventures for the digital explorers.
