Evercold’s deadly pet bird DPS job in FFXIV
After months of tantalizing speculation, the faithful of Final Fantasy XIV have finally received some concrete details about the upcoming Evercold expansion. Purists were right: the next addition to the game is shaping up to be a delightful, feathered adventure.
The second new job in the expansion is named Zephyr, a ranged physical DPS class built around quick-firing crossbows and a truly memorable companion. But Zephyr isn’t just a character; they come with a feathered friend. Zephyr’s avian familiar, named the Nephele, is a winged predator capable of coordinating attacks with the player and providing crucial support from above, suggesting that skillful positioning will be the key to unlocking Zephyr’s true potential.
This new class integration comes alongside the game’s evolving combat structure. Players will experience Zephyr using the new Evolved combat system, a streamlined approach designed to refine the gameplay experience without forcing drastic changes to established habits.
To kick off the adventure, the first job quest for Zephyr will be available in Gridania with a starting level of 90 upon the arrival of patch 8.0.
While the excitement builds for new classes, the Evercold expansion is also making its way closer to launch. The MMO is now scheduled to debut on February 23, 2027, though players eager to dive in can enter the early access period starting February 19, 2027. Pre-orders open on November 4, offering some extra goodies attached to the deal.
Beyond the new job, Square Enix has offered glimpses into some breathtaking new lands awaiting exploration. Teasers reveal idyllic areas like Sessrymnir and the floating island of Skioblaonir, promising stunning new vistas for players to discover.
These gorgeous new locales are part of an even grander tapestry, teasing further content with hints of More Locales From The Fourth. The world of Final Fantasy XIV continues to evolve, promising new classes, dynamic systems, and landscapes that are simply beautiful.
