While the roar of the engines may be fading from the big screen, the legacy of the Fast and Furious franchise is clearly gearing up for a thrilling transition. The action saga isn’t ending—it’s simply hitting the next level, bringing its high-octane world to the small screen with a highly anticipated TV spin-off airing on Peacock.

This cinematic universe is slated to find a new home where the stories can truly breathe. Steering this next chapter will be creative forces Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman, who are also tasked with writing the script. Daniels brings a pedigree of blockbuster production, having helmed iconic series like Sons of Anarchy, and he collaborated with Coleman on this exciting new venture.

The transition isn’t just about changing the medium; it’s about expanding the legacy. Star Vin Diesel himself has publicly championed this move, explaining the desire to bring the characters into a new format. Speaking at the NBCUniversal Upfronts event earlier this year, Diesel emphasized that while the films were precious, the fanbase had consistently pushed for more depth and expansion.

“We realized that the fans have wanted more,” Diesel stated. “They wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories, and for the last decade, the desire has been for us to enter the TV space.”

Diesel added that under NBCUniversal TV executive Donna Langley, he was assured that the integrity of the characters, their international appeal, and the feeling of family that binds the franchise would be carefully protected in the television realm.

Anticipation is building for the spin-off, which is expected to debut in 2028—the same timeframe as the final cinematic installment, Fast Forever. The move signals a natural evolution for the franchise, providing fans with more narrative space to explore the high-stakes world of the Furious.

The groundwork for this evolution was clearly laid by the creative team, who navigated the complexities of the franchise to deliver an emotional cinematic farewell. Now, the focus shifts to the future, promising an engaging and expanded storyline for the global action family on Peacock.
