FF7R Persona join the insane Sonic Racing roadmap
Sonic Racing: Crossworlds Prepares for a Crossover Avalanche in Year Two
While Sonic Racing: Crossworlds has already proven itself as a surprisingly brilliant kart racer, Sega has clearly not been done with throwing curveballs. The roadmap for the game’s second year is shaping up to be less of a simple expansion and more of a full-blown crossover avalanche, promising a spectacular collection of iconic characters and franchises before the end of 2027.
The previous year delivered a bang with content drops, welcoming everyone from Spongebob Squarepants and Minecraft Steve to Yakuza’s Ichiban Kasuga. But Sega has upped the ante for Year Two, preparing a double dose of content that caters to both free-play excitement and premium experiences.
Starting in 2027, players can anticipate free content drops throughout the year, offering immediate fun. This initial wave includes monster-spanking icon Bayonetta joining the race, alongside a kart inspired by McLaren and Persona 3’s Aigis, set to arrive between November and March.
For those ready to invest, the paid Season Two Pass promises even bigger thrills. The collaboration kicks off immediately with a massive Godzilla event on November 3rd, introducing karts based on popular kaiju and a chaotic track. Following this, the focus shifts to Japanese gaming legends with the arrival of playable characters Asuka Shikinami Langley and Rei Ayanami from Evangelion, complete with brand new vehicles and environments.
The crossover energy continues with charming additions. Players can look forward to racing as Hello Kitty and Kuromi in a course inspired by the entire Sanrio universe, where every beloved friend is hidden somewhere in the scenery.
Taking a necessary detour from high-octane crossovers, the Segaland pack offers a deep dive into racing history. This collection pays homage to Sega’s entire legacy, incorporating stages and karts inspired by classic arcade cabinets like Outrun, After Burner, and Super Megalo. Furthermore, the pack features karts based on classic home consoles, including the Genesis, Saturn, and Dreamcast, plus a bonus Super Shadow racer for dedicated Season Pass holders.
To cap off the Year Two Season Pass, Sega is bringing back some of the biggest hitters. Fans can look forward to a collaboration with the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series, featuring Cloud’s Buster Sword sitting alongside a generic ring, promising a nostalgic dash. Additionally, the pack includes content from the Reload Revival Royal pack, which is expected to feature characters and stages drawn from all three modern Persona games.
