Gears of War Launch Dates, Preload Times, and Install Size
The wait is finally over. After a notable drought, the Gears of War franchise is gearing up for a massive return, promising players a chance to sharpen their Lancer and fight back against the Locust tide in the highly anticipated Gears of War: E-Day.
Mark your calendars, as this new chapter is set to be one of the early highlights of October. For those ready to jump back into the fray, the game will offer convenient preloading options, allowing players to start preparing for battle well before launch day.
But before you dive in, it’s important to get acquainted with the logistics. For those planning on the PC, the game demands a substantial amount of space, requiring 115GB for installation. To ensure peak performance, players must also be equipped with a solid-state drive, which is a mandatory requirement for optimal running.
Console gamers will find similar requirements on the Xbox side of the spectrum. The Xbox Series X|S install sizes are comparable to PC versions, meaning players should ensure they have at least 100GB of free space available on their machines to accommodate the game.
To help everyone get ready, preloading will begin on September 29th, kicking off at various global times. Whether you are tracking the time in Eastern Time, Central Time, or other zones, the windows for preloading are set:
- 11 AM ET
- 10 AM CT
- 9 AM MT
- 4 PM BST
- 5 PM CEST
- 3 PM UTC
- 5 PM SAST
- 1 AM AEST (September 30)
For those who want to experience the game ahead of the official release, players opting for the Premium or Collector’s Edition will receive a five-day headstart. Early access will officially begin on October 1st, launching across the globe at these synchronized times:
