GT Circuit Returns to the Action After 13 Years
The next evolution of the racing simulator, Gran Turismo 7, is gearing up for a major shake-up, promising a return to classic racing heritage alongside thrilling new challenges. The upcoming ‘Spec IV’ update is set to deliver a substantial dose of content, ensuring that simulation fans get exactly what they crave: real-world authenticity and expanded gameplay.
This significant update is being rolled out in two exciting stages before the end of 2026, starting in October and concluding in December. The initial installment is packed with real-world racing, introducing the highly anticipated Sportsland Sugo circuit—a genuine race track located in Japan’s Miyagi Prefecture that currently hosts major Super GT and Super Formula events.
To enhance the experience, the first half of the update introduces a diverse array of features. Players will gain access to six new vehicles, a revamped ‘Vintage’ section featuring unique cars unavailable for purchase in the standard GT catalog, and an innovative ‘Car Concierge’ system, allowing players to order both used and legendary cars. Additional gameplay depth comes from new driving challenges, a brand-new car viewer, and an increased Collector Level cap.
The second segment of the ‘Spec IV’ update shifts focus to historic racing and accessible fun. It brings the iconic Autumn Ring back into the mix, expanding its layout for a truly great deal. Along with six more new vehicles, this half introduces a dedicated ‘Family’ mode designed for newcomers, a chaotic luck-based race called ‘Shuffle Race’ featuring random cars, exciting online drift trials, and a new difficulty level within the Power Pack.
The reappearance of Autumn Ring is particularly compelling, as it has been a staple in the original Gran Turismo series, and the GT7 version will feature the original layout but with a greatly expanded design. This ambitious update underscores the commitment to blending high-fidelity simulation with engaging, accessible, and nostalgic racing experiences.
