Gunn keeps Superman’s villain a secret until the movie hits theaters
The excitement in the DC universe is palpable as filming for the new Superman story has officially wrapped, setting the stage for a thrilling reboot under the guidance of James Gunn. DC fans are eagerly anticipating a first glimpse of what lies ahead, though the director himself has thrown a playful curveball regarding spoilers and cinematic reveals.
When pressed about the new Superman suit or other major plot points, Gunn maintained a policy of keeping the audience guessing. He stated a humorous preference: “If I could just drop it in theaters without showing anything I would,” suggesting that the full experience will be best enjoyed in the theater, rather than through early leaks.
This cautious approach extends to some of the new threats slated for the cinematic universe. Gunn also shared similar sentiments about Brainiac, who is set to emerge as a formidable new antagonist. Played by Babylon Berlin star Lars Eidinger, Brainiac will become the central target, forming an uneasy alliance with Clark Kent and Lex Luthor.
While the official release date for Man of Tomorrow is set for July 9, 2027, the anticipation for a trailer is likely to settle in after the new year. Gunn cautioned audiences not to expect an overwhelming influx of new characters in the film, despite the exciting cast assembled.
The ensemble cast is already proving to be a powerhouse. Returning stars Nicholas Hoult and David Corenswet will reprise their roles as Lex and Clark, while Milly Alcock is set to return as Supergirl, and Aaron Pierre is back as John Stewart. Adding depth to the universe is the involvement of Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and the intriguing inclusion of Adria Arjona, whose intense training has fueled rumors that she may be stepping into the role of Wonder Woman.
