Hundreds rally at Bethesda HQ protesting Xbox layoffs

The heat was intense, pressing down on Rockville, Maryland, as hundreds of employees from Bethesda Game Studios and Zenimax Online Studios gathered to demand attention for massive layoffs across Xbox.

In a powerful display of solidarity, these game developers and their supporters braved nearly 100°F temperatures to stage a lunchtime rally outside the parent company Zenimax headquarters. This protest was a visible signal that the creative and quality assurance teams—the very engines of game development—would not stand silently by while job cuts decimated their workforce.

The demonstration was just one in a series of coordinated actions, as these employees participated in five rallies today organized by Zenimax Workers United and its parent union, the Communication Workers of America. These events spanned offices across Texas, California, and Montreal, demonstrating a united front against corporate decisions that impact the future of the gaming industry.

Attendees gathered not just to protest the cuts but to articulate a deeper message: that the talent and dedication of their employees deserve recognition.
