James Gunn lays down the law on DCU canon in The Suicide Squad

To tackle this monumental task, he is launching a new official podcast: The Suicide Squad “Is It Canon?”. This new series will dive deep into the complexities of the franchise, offering behind-the-scenes fun facts while establishing the definitive canon status for various characters and events.
This move is not just about crunching timelines; it’s about celebrating the characters and the world-building that has brought so much excitement to the DC fandom. Gunn has already set the stage for this exploration, having previously released a similar podcast focused on Peacemaker.

“I’ve been thinking about this a lot in regards to The Suicide Squad &em> Blue Beetle and I’ve been meaning to rewatch both with an eye towards that knowing what I know now almost three years into the DCU,” Gunn shared. He hints at future collaborative discussions, suggesting that perhaps after exploring the core elements, he might bring in other key figures, such as Man of Tomorrow Jenn Holland and Steve Agee, for special podcast episodes.
