The highly anticipated continuation of the acclaimed crime saga is officially moving forward, bringing back the iconic trio of Josh Brolin, Emily Blunt, and Benicio del Toro. After years of waiting, the production of the next installment is now underway, promising a fresh chapter in a familiar criminal underworld.

However, this new chapter comes with a significant creative shift. The narrative reins are changing hands, as Taylor Sheridan, the visionary behind the original Sicario and Sicario: Day of the Soldado, will not be returning to the writing desk. Instead, the responsibility for shaping the story falls to Peaky Blinders creator and screenwriter Steven Knight, joined by director Padraic McKinley, who is guiding the direction of the project.

Despite the change in authorship, the core cast remains firmly in place, and the dynamic between the stars is set to shine. Josh Brolin, for instance, weighed in on the new creative landscape, expressing excitement about the opportunity to reunite with his co-stars. “We all can’t wait to get on set anyway. It’s been a while. We adore each other, and we’ve all worked together before,” Brolin shared, emphasizing the chemistry between the cast.

Brolin also highlighted the special bond he shares with Emily Blunt and Benicio del Toro, noting that this would mark their sixth film together. He expressed deep appreciation for the current level of artistic output, stating that the work in this project has reached a level that is simply untouchable.

The transition in leadership was described as a “juggly process,” but the team is clearly moving forward with confidence. Brolin affirmed his support for the new creative team, noting that he had already provided valuable notes for Knight’s script, demonstrating a seamless and collaborative effort.

This evolution signals an exciting new direction for the franchise, blending established talent with fresh storytelling. While the journey ahead may take time, the promise of the new narrative, guided by Knight and McKinley, is already generating considerable buzz among fans eager to see the story unfold.
