Lorcana sounds like MTG Arena and Pokemon TCG Pocket
Lorcana Expands into the Digital Realm with Epic New Sets
The world of Disney Lorcana is gearing up for a massive expansion, bringing its beloved tabletop experience into a vibrant digital space. Disney has just unveiled plans for a digital version of the game, accessible on both mobile and desktop, promising a way for fans to immerse themselves in the world of Lorcana wherever they log in.
This digital evolution is set to rival established gaming platforms, potentially offering an experience similar to MTG Arena or Pokemon TCG Pocket. The move is backed by publisher Ravensburger, whose Head of trading card games, Elaine Chase, emphasized that their mission is to connect with as many Disney fans as possible through meticulously hand-crafted artwork and deep storytelling detail.
Chase believes that allowing fans to experience every Lorcana card in an accessible format will foster an even more open and enthusiastic community around the game.
But the excitement doesn’t stop there. Before the digital debut, the core tabletop game is set to receive a slew of exciting new expansions, promising new worlds and mechanics for players. Following the current set, Attack of the Vine, a trio of expansions are planned for late 2026 and early 2027.
These upcoming releases promise a diverse journey through the Disney universe, ranging from bustling cities to cosmic adventures. Among the announced additions, players can look forward to the urban-themed expansion Hyperia City, which introduces the magical city of Hyperia and features the beloved character Coco.
For a deeper dive into the lore, Lorcana is also introducing new lore materials. In September 2026, players will receive Quest of Wonders: An Illumineer’s Lorebook, a diary filled with notes from the Illumineer Shanzay.
Further expanding the narrative, a visual guide to the entire world of Lorcana is slated for release in 2027, offering an ode to the game’s visual storytelling. Simultaneously, a new line of collector items, Curator’s Collection, will arrive in October 2026, offering special, one-off artwork focusing on beloved characters like Beauty and the Beast.
The 2027 releases promise even more unique content, including Into the Inkdark, which takes players into a gloomier adventure beneath the Inklands. This set also introduces a highly sought-after new card rarity, Illustrious, with only twenty-three serialized copies of the six cards available.
Space exploration is also on the horizon with the Cosmic Quest expansion, which features stunning artwork of a space-faring Ariel in a retro-futuristic astronaut suit, set to launch in the second quarter of 2027.
Lorcana is clearly embarking on an ambitious journey, blending high-quality art, engaging lore, and accessible digital play to create an unforgettable experience for all Disney fans.
