Massive takes control of Splinter Cell Ghost Recon and new IP in Ubisoft
Ubisoft is shaking up its internal structure, giving a major boost to its celebrated Swedish development house, Massive Entertainment. This expansion signals that the studio, long known for delivering critically acclaimed titles, is stepping up to become a central pillar within the wider Ubisoft ecosystem.
Massive Entertainment is already a powerhouse, having built some of the franchise’s most beloved IPs. They are the creative engine behind the gritty and compelling The Division series, alongside massive, ambitious worlds like Star Wars Outlaws and the breathtaking exploration of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
By expanding its remit, Ubisoft is effectively elevating Massive to a second major component of the company. This move isn’t just about increasing output; it’s about cementing Massive’s role as a key creative hub, integrating more of its diverse studios and game brands into the larger Ubisoft family.
But the exciting news doesn’t stop there. Beyond managing its existing portfolio, Massive is also gearing up for some fresh, original creative territory. The studio has also unveiled its work on a brand new, original game tentatively titled March of Giants, promising new adventures that will define the future of the Massive Entertainment brand.
