While Capcom has been busy dropping hints about the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds expansion, the true star of the show for eagle-eyed fans might just be a creature that has haunted the series long before the DLC even existed.
As new footage showcasing the expansion’s mechanics has been released, the community has been dissecting every detail, from the exciting new Boost mechanic to weapon-specific abilities. But amidst the technical deep-dive, one specific monster emerged as the ultimate anomaly: the notorious and deeply cursed Khezu.
Khezu, a creature famous from the original Monster Hunter, is known less for its battle prowess and more for its utterly bizarre design. It is widely considered one of the most memorable, and frankly, most unsettling additions to the franchise. With its pale, rubbery-looking dragon body and a somewhat phallic-looking head, Khezu has cemented its place in the lore as a truly unforgettable, if bizarre, addition.
Adding to its unsettling reputation is Khezu’s unique anatomy, including a tail that allows it to cling to the ceiling, giving it a distinctly sneaky advantage in combat.
