Get ready to embrace the grimdark! The highly anticipated crossover between Helldivers 2 and the sprawling, brutal universe of Warhammer 40K is finally here, set to drop on August 12th in the form of a Legendary Warbond.

While fans have been eagerly anticipating this pairing alongside titans like Halo and Killzone, Arrowhead Studios has chosen not to dive into the realm of Space Marines. Instead, the focus shifts entirely to the formidable Astra Militarum faction, bringing the gritty might of Imperial armies directly into Super Earth.

This new content introduces two distinct armor sets for players to choose from: the heavy-armored Demo Trooper and the medium-armor Sharpshooter. Both sets share a powerful passive ability, True Grit, which equips the player with improved ergonomics and faster reload speeds for their Stratagem weapons.

Equipped with these new defenses, players will find themselves wielding some genuinely terrifying weaponry from the 40K setting. The arsenal includes brutal tools like the Meltagun support weapon—a fearsome flamethrower variant—alongside Meltamines, a Bolt Pistol secondary, and a Lasgun Marksman Rifle primary.

The reveal trailer showcased these weapons in action, demonstrating their raw power. The Hot Shot Marksman rifle was seen penetrating multiple enemies with ease, while the Meltagun and Meltamine promised to make short work of heavily armored foes and vehicles.

It is worth noting that this assortment doesn’t feature the most iconic 40K weapons; there are no bolters or chainswords—the preferred tools of Space Marines. This means the Warbond deliberately steps away from melee combat, which some fans might have expected given the universe’s emphasis on sword-wielding might.

Arrowhead Studios made a pragmatic choice, selecting only weapons that fit logically into the context of fighting Automatons and Terminids. For now, players will be relying on explosive firepower from the Meltagun and the Bolt Pistol to smash through hordes of enemies, hoping to bring righteous victory to Super Earth one stratagem at a time.
