Created by Sam, Brand Director at GamesRadar+, and a collective of women across the industry, G+RLS is more than just a conversation; it’s an invitation to celebrate the magic found in games and foster genuine inclusivity.

The journey began with compelling research that highlighted this disconnect. Studies have shown that women often encounter guilt, shame, and exclusion within gaming culture. Even when considering reasons why they don’t play games, female gamers are more likely than men to cite issues like the culture or community or difficulty finding suitable games, rather than factors like time or cost.

This research points toward a deeper issue: it isn’t a lack of time or money preventing women from playing; it’s an inability to find experiences that truly appeal to them, coupled with nervousness about the surrounding community. We need a shift in perspective.

We believe there is something genuinely magical about games, and our goal is to dismantle the barriers that prevent anyone—whether they identify as a woman, LGBTQ+ person, or anyone else—from stepping into this world.

G+RLS aims to spotlight the games that have shaped our relationship with play while opening up honest, wide-ranging discussions about representation and inclusivity.
