Nintendo has thrown a splash of nostalgia and collectible excitement into the gaming world, unveiling a brand-new Lego set centered around one of the most iconic franchises in history: The Legend of Zelda. During the recent The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct, the company revealed details about a special Ocarina of Time-themed Link and Epona set, signaling a massive merchandise rollout planned through late 2026 and part of 2027.

This isn’t just any Lego build; the set is positioned as a collectible display model for adults, boasting 1,750 pieces. Fans are anticipating its official launch in spring 2027, though Nintendo is keeping the exact retail price under wraps. Speculation among collectors suggests the pricing will likely fall between existing releases, offering a potential sweet spot for this sought-after collectible.

To understand the potential value, a look at other recently released Lego Zelda items provides some context. Nintendo has previously released sets like the Ocarina of Time – The Final Battle set, which features Link, Zelda, and a full-size Ganon build, totaling 1,003 pieces and priced at $129.99. Contrast this with the much larger 2-in-1 Great Deku Tree set, which features 2,500 pieces and carries a price tag of $299.99.

With the Link and Epona set falling between these two benchmarks, collectors are keeping a close eye on the eventual price reveal, hoping for a balance between detail and cost.

Beyond the Lego news, the 40th Anniversary Direct was packed with celebrations for the franchise. Nintendo also used the event to tease exciting future developments, including a special Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch 2 console and pro-controller, additions to the Nintendo Museum in Kyoto, Japan, and new amiibo figures. The celebration extended to new playable Ocarina mechanics and anniversary concerts, promising a truly epic retrospective for the legendary series.
