Peak climbs onto PS5 October 22
When you climb to the top, the greatest challenge isn’t the altitude—it’s who you climb with. That spirit of unbreakable teamwork is the foundation of a brand-new adventure set to redefine cooperative gaming: Peak is launching on PlayStation 5 on October 22nd.
This thrilling cooperative climbing game is the brainchild of two distinct creative forces: the American studio Aggro Crab, based in Seattle, and the Swedish studio Landfall, based in Stockholm. Their journey to create Peak began not in a boardroom, but over a shared love for game development, sparked by a meeting at a conference in 2022 that instantly forged a lasting friendship.
To put this partnership into action, the teams decided to test their creative synergy during an intense one-month game jam in Seoul, South Korea, in February 2025. Three developers from Aggro Crab and four from Landfall locked themselves down in a rented apartment, fueled by Korean BBQ and copious amounts of coffee, determined to create something spectacular together.
The result of this collaborative sprint was Peak, a brutal co-op climbing experience where survival hinges entirely on staying united. Players take on the roles of lost nature scouts tasked with scaling a mysterious mountain. Their only hope for rescue lies in coordinating their efforts and trusting each other as they navigate treacherous terrain.
The core gameplay demands perfect synchronization. Every upward movement is fraught with peril, as players must manage limited stamina while scavenging for questionable food and carefully managing their injuries. The central lesson of Peak is simple: Never abandon a friend in need, because a single mistake can spell disaster.
The journey up the mountain is a relentless gauntlet. Players must traverse four distinct biomes, each presenting unique, life-threatening obstacles—from swirling tornadoes and poisonous clouds to lurking zombies and predatory birds. These hazards test not only the players’ physical skills but their ability to adapt their strategies in real time.
The game throws complex environmental challenges into the mix, demanding smart decision-making. As the climb intensifies, players must constantly weigh risks, managing their injuries and stamina while battling the dynamic hazards that threaten their survival.
What makes Peak truly special is the emphasis on friendship and connection. The game encourages players to actively support one another, turning a solo climb into a shared, high-stakes rescue mission. This bond extends beyond the game itself, embracing a powerful sense of community.
And because the spirit of teamwork should never be limited by geography, Peak boasts seamless crossplay capabilities. Players can invite up to three friends from any platform to join the ascent, ensuring that the adventure is available to everyone, no matter where they are in the world.
For PlayStation players, Peak on the PS5 is ready to launch on October 22nd, bringing all the content updates, biomes, and new items accumulated since the initial release. Get ready to climb to the peak, survive the hazards, and prove that when you stick together, there is no mountain too high to conquer.
