Phoenix Cyclops joins MARVEL Tōkon Fighting Souls
Hello, and welcome to the exciting world of MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls! We are thrilled to unveil the gameplay trailer for our first piece of downloadable content, introducing the dynamic new fighter, Phoenix Cyclops, who joins the roster with a truly unique fighting style.
Arriving on November 2, Phoenix Cyclops, voiced by Ray Chase, brings an electrifying combination of Optic Blast attacks and the raw, devastating power of the Phoenix Force to the arena. Alongside the new character, players will also get access to his “Classic” and “Legacy” DLC costumes.
The decision to bring Phoenix Cyclops into the game wasn’t arbitrary; it stemmed from a deep dive into character design and storytelling. During development, we sought to present Cyclops in a way that felt fresh and exciting, moving beyond his traditional visual identity. This led us to explore the profound inner conflict of the character—the struggle between idealistic leadership and the fiery corruption unleashed by the Phoenix Force.
To visually express this internal battle, we gave Phoenix Cyclops a slightly younger appearance, contrasting it with the immense, destructive aura of the Phoenix energy. This design choice highlights his shift from an idealistic leader to a force of volatile power.
In terms of gameplay, Cyclops is designed as a versatile all-rounder, mastering both long-range combat and aggressive close-range strikes using his signature Optic Blasts. Empowered by the Phoenix Force, he can unleash massive, screen-controlling fire-based attacks. To harness this power, players accumulate Phoenix Force energy in the form of Solar Shards by utilizing Optic Blasts.
Once four Solar Shards are collected, Phoenix Cyclops can transform into his potent Dark Phoenix form. This transformation grants a significant temporary power boost, but it comes with inherent risks, requiring players to master the balance between wielding immense power and managing the potential for destruction.
We also understand that fans appreciate the classic aesthetics of beloved characters. That is why we developed the “Classic” and “Legacy” costume options. These additions allow players to experience Phoenix Cyclops in whichever visual style speaks most to them, honoring the diverse interpretations fans have of the character.
