8/10 — 8BitDo SN30 Pro+
Works with: Nintendo Switch, PC, Android, iOS
Pros
- Excellent D-pad
- Twin sticks, rumble and motion controls
- Customisation software
- Works across many devices
Cons
- Compact for adult hands
- No HD Rumble or amiibo support
The 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ takes the classic SNES controller shape and adds everything you need for modern games: twin analogue sticks, triggers, rumble and motion controls.
Design and features
It has a retro look with a superb D-pad and SNES-style face buttons, plus grips and twin sticks for modern games. It connects via Bluetooth to Switch, PC and mobile devices, and 8BitDo’s software lets you customise buttons and sensitivity.
Verdict
The 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ is a brilliant hybrid of retro and modern. It’s compact for larger hands, and the Pro 2 is its more refined successor, but it’s still a great controller for Switch and retro gaming.
