PowerA Enhanced Wired Controller for Xbox

7/10 — PowerA Enhanced Wired Controller for Xbox

Works with: Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC

Pros

  • Very affordable
  • Two mappable back buttons
  • Officially licensed
  • Long cable and lots of colour options

Cons

  • Wired only
  • Feels cheaper than first-party pads
  • Standard sticks and buttons

PowerA’s Enhanced Wired Controller is one of the most common budget Xbox controllers, and it’s often the spare pad in many households. It’s officially licensed by Microsoft, so it works properly with Xbox consoles and PCs.

Design and features

It follows the standard Xbox layout and is comfortable for most players, though it feels lighter and less premium than Microsoft’s own controller. Two mappable buttons on the back are a nice bonus at this price, and it comes in a wide range of colours and designs. It’s wired only, but its long detachable cable gives you plenty of room.

Verdict

The PowerA Enhanced Wired Controller is a sensible, affordable second controller for Xbox or PC. It won’t replace a first-party pad for most players, but for local multiplayer or younger players, it’s great value. Budget Hall effect pads like the GameSir G7 SE are worth a look too.
