SNES Controller for Switch Review: A Retro Classic, Cut the Cord
7.5/10 — Super NES Controller (Nintendo Switch Online)
Works with: Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2
Pros
- Faithful SNES feel with an excellent D-pad
- Wireless with a rechargeable battery
- Perfect for SNES and NES games
Cons
- Requires Nintendo Switch Online
- No analogue sticks, so it's limited to retro games
The wireless SNES controller for Switch is designed for the Super Nintendo games included with Nintendo Switch Online, and it captures the feel of the original superbly.
Design and features
It’s a faithful recreation of the SNES pad, with its excellent D-pad and four colourful face buttons, plus ZL and ZR buttons on top. It’s wireless and rechargeable, and great for NES and SNES games, as well as 2D indie titles that don’t need sticks.
Verdict
The SNES controller is a must-have for retro fans with Nintendo Switch Online. It’s limited to games that don’t need analogue sticks, but for those, it’s perfect.
