Thrustmaster eSwap Pro Review: Hot-Swappable Modules for PS4
7.5/10 — Thrustmaster eSwap Pro Controller
Works with: PS4, PC
Pros
- Hot-swappable stick and D-pad modules
- Four back buttons
- Replace modules instead of the whole pad if they wear out
Cons
- Wired only
- Expensive
- Extra modules cost more
Thrustmaster’s eSwap Pro is a modular wired controller for PS4 and PC, built around the idea that parts can be swapped, upgraded and replaced.
Design and features
Its thumbsticks and D-pad are hot-swappable modules, so you can rearrange them between symmetrical and asymmetrical layouts, or replace a worn stick, without unplugging the controller. There are four back buttons and trigger stops, and additional modules, including different sticks and D-pads, were sold separately.
Verdict
The Thrustmaster eSwap Pro is a clever, durable controller. It’s wired only and the extra modules add to the cost, but its swappable parts make it a good long-term investment for PS4 and PC players.
