Rockstar devs vote on union recognition during GTA 6 launch

As the countdown to the launch of GTA 6 intensifies, the focus is shifting to the studio itself, where major conversations about labor recognition are taking place. November is shaping up to be a significant month for Rockstar Games, not just for the game, but for the workers who bring it to life.

The spotlight is currently on the Independent Workers of Great Britain (IWGB) Union, which is seeking recognition at Rockstar. This recognition is not just an internal matter; it is a crucial vote for the staff members who contribute to one of the most celebrated gaming franchises in history.

To ensure that the voices of the dedicated staff are heard, the process for recognizing the IWGB Union will involve a direct vote by the Rockstar staff.

The voting dates have been set to coincide with the anticipation surrounding the new title. Staff members will have two opportunities to cast their ballots: the first vote will take place on November 12th, just a week before the much-anticipated launch of GTA 6. The second vote is scheduled for November 26th.

This opportunity for staff input ensures that the recognition of the union is handled directly by those working within the studio. It is a moment where the creative energy and the workforce intersect, making the process both timely and highly relevant to the creative ecosystem of Rockstar Games.
