Square Enix is ready to resurrect an RPG legend, announcing a massive full 3D remake of the 1995 classic, Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United. This isn’t just a graphical polish; it’s a complete overhaul designed to revitalize one of the genre’s most beloved world-building and character-driven adventures.
The new iteration promises far more than just updated textures and smoother gameplay. Players can anticipate fully voiced cutscenes, deep overhauls to combat systems, selectable difficulty levels, and a host of new features designed to deepen the experience.
At the heart of the narrative is a world perpetually marked by looming doom. The game plunges players into a landscape defined by scheduled despair, following a party of eight protagonists on a desperate quest to locate the sole survivor of an ancient calamity. Their mission is driven by the terrifying cycle of the Rise of Morastrum, an apocalyptic event that occurs every three centuries and wipes out all newborn life, leaving only the Child of Destiny behind.
As adventurers navigate this perilous world, the classic depth remains. Players will continue to meet and recruit over twenty other unique characters, each boasting individual stats and specialized abilities. These companions are more than just allies; they are integral to the journey, their potential further fine-tuned by a Nonastrum—a star of fate assigned by the player that dictates their affinity for powerful techs and spells.
The gameplay will be equally dynamic. The Freeform Scenario System allows player choices to genuinely shape the characters they encounter, introducing unpredictable and personalized storylines.
