See Your Progress with Xbox Mythic Achievements
Xbox is leveling up the way gamers celebrate their accomplishments with the introduction of Mythic Achievements, a milestone system designed to recognize the ultimate dedication to classic games. This new system brings the feeling of a PlayStation Platinum Trophy to the Xbox ecosystem, rewarding players who have fully conquered the original achievements of a title.
The core idea behind Mythic Achievements is simple yet deeply satisfying: a player earns Mythic status when they have unlocked every original achievement within a game. This shift moves beyond simply collecting badges; it celebrates true mastery of a game’s foundation.
One of the most exciting elements of this update is the retroactive application of this status. For players who have spent years grinding through Xbox games, this means that all existing achievements will be reviewed, and users will receive a quick 15-second notification acknowledging their earned Mythic status. It’s a retrospective celebration for all the hard work that has already been invested.
Crucially, this system is built around the original content. Achievements earned later through DLC or game updates are not required to achieve Mythic status, ensuring that the core challenge remains the focus. Once a player achieves Mythic status, that recognition is theirs to keep forever.
To make the journey toward Mythic status clearer and more engaging, Microsoft is introducing enhanced tracking tools. Players will see a new progress bar at the top of each game’s achievement list, visually demonstrating exactly how close they are to unlocking the coveted Mythic title. Furthermore, there will be an option to focus specifically on the original achievements still needed, while later-added achievements will receive a distinct “add-on” tag, making the progress chase crystal clear.
When the full system rolls out across the entire Xbox community, players will benefit from a streamlined experience. A new Gaming tab will appear on their profile, offering an organized hub where they can easily view all their achievements, track their progress toward Gamerscore milestones, and revisit their favorite games with greater context.
While the exact date for the full rollout is still pending, the development of Mythic Achievements marks a significant step in how Xbox recognizes and rewards its dedicated player base, turning historical gaming accomplishments into permanent, celebrated legacies.
