Soulframe launches this November despite DE nervousness

The fantasy RPG Soulframe, the ambitious project from Digital Extremes creators, is finally ready for the masses. After two years spent in a closed alpha, the game will be fully available for download on November 6th, marking the end of the wait and the start of a wild new adventure for everyone.

This grand opening brings with it more than just a game; it brings a fresh, evolving world. The initial release, dubbed the prelude, sets the stage, but the true action lies in what comes next. Shortly before the game’s 17th major update, Verse of the Veilands, players will unlock the ability to transform their Omen wolfpup allies. This involves finding rare ingredients to grow them into rideable adult wolves, adding a deeply satisfying layer of progression to the experience.

But the changes don’t stop at simple growth. The prelude 17 update is poised to violently rearrange the game’s wistful landscape. Digital Extremes is implementing an Ubisoft-esque region purging system designed to guide new players more emphatically toward the game’s core motivations—the missions. This means the world won’t just be explored; it will be actively reshaped, demanding player interaction with the environment.

This commitment to bespoke world design means that Digital Extremes has developed their own terminology for every game feature. Whether you find this approach charming or maddening depends entirely on how much sleep you’ve had. It’s a testament to the team’s vision, introducing unique ways to navigate and engage with the world of Soulframe.
