Star tries to join CDPR boss on Cyberpunk 2077 movie
The neon-drenched future of Night City is about to hit the big screen. Just one day after joining Paramount’s development team, the co-CEO of video game studio CD Projekt Red shared his enthusiasm for the live-action adaptation of Cyberpunk 2077.
“We are excited about Paramount as a future partner who shares our creative ambitions for the Cyberpunk franchise,” stated Michał Nowakowski on Twitter. This collaboration places CD Projekt Red in a pivotal role, serving as co-producers alongside Lorenzo di Bonaventura, the producer behind the successful live-action Transformers movies.
The source material itself is a sprawling epic set in the fictional metropolis of Night City, California, following the story of the mercenary V (Vincent/Valerie). V is accompanied by the rogue rockstar and terrorist Johnny Silverhand, whose consciousness is linked to V via a biochip. Their journey is a high-stakes confrontation with the powerful Arasaka Corporation, navigating a world where reality itself is up for a rewrite.
While plot details and casting remain under wraps, the anticipation for the visual translation of this dystopian world is palpable. The fanbase is already dreaming of familiar faces stepping into the streets of Night City.
One name has emerged to ignite the speculation: the smile star Kyle Gallner. Gallner recently posted a picture sporting a buzzcut, adding the tantalizing comment, “Take me to Night City.” This simple message has ignited fan fervor, with many suggesting that Paramount should seriously consider him for the role of V, noting that the casting would be “perfect.”
This adaptation is not an isolated venture. The franchise has already enjoyed successful cinematic expansions, with Netflix releasing the animated series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners in 2022, a project also produced by CD Projekt Red. Those who have followed the franchise know that the cinematic journey into Night City is just beginning, promising a fresh and dazzling look at the world of V and the fate of Night City.
