TennoCon 2026: Warframe and Soulframe Reveals
The digital action RPG world was buzzing at TennoCon 2026, where developer Digital Extremes unveiled massive new content for both Warframe and Soulframe. The showcase delivered long-anticipated updates that promise to transport players to entirely new galaxies and introduce complex, morally challenging narratives.
For Warframe, the biggest reveal was the expansion into the Tau system. This massive addition isn’t just a new map; it represents a fundamental shift for the game, offering players a completely new galaxy filled with fresh threats and untold lore. Creative director Rebecca Ford emphasized that adding a second solar system allows the developers to keep the game evolving indefinitely, giving players endless new content to discover.
The Tau system centers around the gloomy, alien cyberpunk metropolis known as the Fornax. This new hub zone masterfully blends wide-open exploration with tightly designed action areas, providing a distinct atmosphere unlike any other location in Warframe. Players will dive into the seedy underbelly of this megacity, exploring underground slots and engaging in unique gameplay mechanics.
A signature element of the Tau expansion is the introduction of a brand new Warframe: Brysko. This unique Chimera frame is imbued with an individual consciousness and serves as a hard-boiled detective navigating the neon-drenched chaos of Fornax. Players will experience fast-paced action sequences where Brysko handles combat, even utilizing playing cards to dish out damage, adding a layer of unique, character-first storytelling to the gameplay.
The narrative focus deepens with new missions and upgrades preparing for Tau’s launch later in 2026. Players can acquire an Orokin Vessel to travel to the Tau system and obtain new Ice-elemental Warframes, alongside various Deluxe and Prime variants for existing frames. New updates will also refresh core gameplay through reworked Warframes like Qorvex and Banshee, ensuring plenty of fresh incentive for players to dive back into the world.
Meanwhile, the high-fantasy universe of Soulframe continues its journey toward a more soulful narrative. The developers unveiled content focusing on the Envoys confronting their darkest challenges, including the arrival of corruption. A new, pivotal questline titled Warsongs is slated for release this fall, providing deeper context to the player character’s origin and introducing compelling new antagonists.
The story expands with significant casting additions, featuring actors Ben Starr and Jennifer English portraying recurring figures like Tempest Bayor and Empress of Eldveil. The demo featured an intense battle between these characters, culminating in an encounter where the Envoy embraced a dark pact known as the Vadagar pact, granting them access to formidable dark side powers.
Players will also gain opportunities to explore new features designed to enhance immersion and relaxation. New quality-of-life updates include player mounts—allowing users to ride large wolves—and a novel feature called ‘Vegan Fishing,’ enabling players to relax across the Alca to gather wildlife intel.
The Soulframe experience is clearly built with the community in mind. The developers stressed that their focus is on building a shared world, and they are constantly engaging with players through dev-streams and dedicated Envoy hours, ensuring that the story unfolding in Soulframe remains rich, engaging, and deeply personal.
