The Duskbloods missed Nintendo Direct Now I’m Worried
In the world of high-stakes gaming reveals, sometimes the most anticipated titles are the ones that fail to make an appearance. Just when we thought we were getting a glimpse into the world of The Duskbloods, the game mysteriously vanished from the September Nintendo Direct, leaving a palpable sense of curiosity in the gaming community.
This absence felt particularly striking because the game is still firmly slated for release this year, meaning the window of opportunity is rapidly closing. One might have expected From Software to reveal details, perhaps maps or playable characters, during the presentation. Instead, silence reigned, which only amplified the speculation about what might have gone wrong behind the scenes.
The preceding network test for The Duskbloods in August did not unfold exactly as planned. Technical difficulties and server issues led to the cancellation of the first day of sessions. While this was certainly frustrating, the team managed to resolve the problems for subsequent playtests, allowing players to dive into the game’s unique blend of cooperative and competitive soulsborne action.
It is reasonable to assume that given the network test setbacks, From Software likely needed more time to iron out the online multiplayer kinks before a major public presentation. The pressure to deliver a polished experience, especially for a title poised to be a major exclusive on the Switch 2, was clearly intense.
While the timeline for The Duskbloods remains uncertain—some are hoping for a release this year, while others speculate a delay until 2027—the demand for the game is undeniable. A From Software employee recently revealed that the playtest for The Duskbloods surpassed that of Elden Ring Nightreign in popularity, signaling the massive hunger for this new adventure.
In the meantime, the Nintendo Direct delivered a heavy dose of other exciting announcements. While The Duskbloods remained off the map, the presentation highlighted other major upcoming titles, including the highly anticipated new 2D entry in the Metroid series, Metroid Ravenous, slated for early next year, and the open-world experience, Kirby and the World Beyond, which is set for Spring 2027.
