Uncharted star calls sequel one of the biggest games ever
The dream of a return to the adventure is alive and well, fueled by a voice from the screen. Actor Nolan North, known for bringing the beloved Nathan Drake to life, recently opened up about his willingness to dive back into the world of Uncharted, revealing that his enthusiasm is tempered by a very real-world consideration: the bottom line.
When asked about potentially reprising his role in a new Uncharted game, North offered an emphatic answer. He stressed that while he would be 110 percent happy to return, the decision ultimately hinges on a single factor: whether Sony prioritizes profit in the development process. “It just depends if Sony wants to make money,” he stated, painting a picture where creative passion meets corporate strategy.
North didn’t mince words about the potential scale of such a project, suggesting that if Sony were to greenlight it, it would be a monumental event in the gaming world. He posited that a new Uncharted title, starring Drake, could easily become one of the biggest announcements in gaming history, a notion he insisted wasn’t hyperbole.
This reflection comes at a particularly interesting time for the PlayStation landscape. Sony has recently signaled a clear shift toward prioritizing digital media and console exclusivity, notably by deciding to end physical disc production for new PlayStation games starting in 2028. This business focus creates a complex backdrop for blockbuster game announcements.
Despite the corporate focus on finances, North remains steadfast in his desire to participate in the narrative. He reiterated his commitment, adding that he simply tries to stay in shape “just in case,” demonstrating a genuine, enduring hope for the project’s realization.
The buzz surrounding a new Uncharted installment is intensifying, especially considering recent reports suggesting Naughty Dog is actively developing a new title that will feature Nathan Drake. This forthcoming game is rumored to be the studio’s next major venture following the release of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
The anticipation is already building for the next big reveal. While details remain scarce, the expectation is that the next major installment will finally get its proper spotlight. Following the initial unveiling of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet> at the Game Awards, industry watchers are eagerly awaiting a major reveal for the next chapter, with some suggesting that this sequel will receive its proper spotlight sometime next year.
