Xbox adds Mythic Achievement Trophy to compete with PlayStation
The world of gaming achievement is about to get a major upgrade, as Xbox is rolling out a new system designed to elevate the bragging rights of dedicated players. It seems the Xbox PC app has just unveiled the Mythic Achievement, the shiny new equivalent to the PlayStation Platinum Trophy.
This development builds on previous promises from Xbox CEO Asha Sharma, who earlier confirmed that the company was working on an exclusive version of the Platinum Trophy for the Xbox Achievement system. While PlayStation players celebrate unlocking all trophies, Xbox gamers have traditionally shown their dedication through the 1,000 Gamerscore, but now, a deeper layer of recognition is coming.
The reveal was sparked by a curious user filter, which led to an exciting discovery on the Xbox PC app. Suddenly, the system announced the Mythic Achievement symbol and a satisfying unlock sound, signaling a significant milestone for gamers.
What exactly is a Mythic Achievement? Sources indicate that this new system is tied directly to game completion, specifically rewarding players for achieving 100% Gamerscore completion in a game. Crucially, this achievement will focus purely on base game completion, intentionally excluding achievements tied to downloadable content (DLC), ensuring the reward is truly for mastering the core experience.
To make the celebration even more comprehensive, the new system will retroactively apply these Mythic Achievements to any games a user has already completed. This means those who have poured countless hours into their game library will soon see their accomplishments formally recognized and celebrated.
While the exact rollout schedule remains under wraps—it is unclear if this will debut through the Xbox Insider Program or launch broadly for all users—the anticipation is high. Game enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the launch, marking a pivotal moment in how Xbox recognizes and rewards the dedication of its community.
