Xbox Halo Remake players who paid early can’t

For many Xbox fans eagerly awaiting the return of a classic franchise, the excitement surrounding Halo: Campaign Evolved has been tempered by some serious digital roadblocks. Despite paying for premium access, players have encountered frustrating issues preventing them from diving into the game.

The trouble stems from the Premium Edition and Premium Edition Upgrade options, which offered enthusiasts five days of early access. This special edition, priced at $70, was meant to give players a head start on experiencing the remake, and it was also available through Game Pass with an option to upgrade for that coveted early entry.

Instead of unlocking the campaign, many users were greeted by a cryptic message: You’re too early. This seemingly simple block has turned anticipation into frustration for those who purchased the premium access options on both Xbox consoles and the PC app.

Halo Studios was quickly made aware of the widespread reports. In a social media post, the official Halo Support account confirmed that they were investigating reports indicating that some players on Xbox consoles and the Xbox app for PC who bought the Premium Edition or Premium Edition Upgrade were unable to access the game.

“We will share updates as soon as more information is available. Thank you for your patience,” the support team stated, acknowledging the widespread concern regarding access issues.

The frustration felt by the community is palpable, especially since Halo Studios is working on a highly anticipated remake. This hiccup comes at a moment when other platforms are seeing different outcomes; while Halo is reportedly performing well on the PlayStation 5, the Xbox experience has encountered its own hurdle.

Despite the access issues, the core quality of Halo: Campaign Evolved remains high. Critics have praised the remake, with one review highlighting that it is “the best way to play through Master Chief’s first game” and expertly links the new prequel missions into the original story of Combat Evolved.

The game has garnered strong critical approval, reflected in its 81 Metacritic score.
