Acclaimed fighter sales predicted to be modest
When a new title drops, the expectation is often for a market-shaking event. But for the critically acclaimed licensed superhero fighter Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, the reality seems to be a respectable opening week, according to industry predictions.
Despite the hype surrounding the game, new projections from Alinea Analytics suggest that the release is not going to set cash registers alight in the way some may have hoped. The preliminary forecast points to sales of 485,000 copies across both the PlayStation 5 and PC platforms during its inaugural week.
This initial performance translates to an estimated revenue of $33 million, a solid figure that confirms the game has found a dedicated audience.
More interesting than the total sales figures is the distribution strategy. The data reveals a clear preference for the console experience in this instance. It is predicted that a significant majority of these copies—a whopping 74%—were sold directly through Sony’s home console, underscoring the platform’s dominance in the initial rollout.
While the console segment led the charge, the PC audience was certainly not left out of the action. The remaining 26% of sales were accounted for on PC, demonstrating a healthy cross-platform appeal for this superhero spectacle.
The results paint a picture of a successful launch, balancing strong console adoption with solid engagement on the PC market. It’s a reminder that while massive hype is essential, strong core gameplay and platform optimization are what truly drive those impressive initial figures.
