Capcom is not just remaking history; they are building a future. Their ongoing initiative to modernize the legendary Resident Evil series is so successful that the development team is already looking far beyond the scope of the current projects.

The realization is that while the remakes are taking center stage, the pipeline for mainline, numbered titles is evolving. This success has naturally led to a fascinating long-term vision: a potential crossover between the modern remake series and the classic titles.

Producer Jun Takeuchi has been vocal about this ambition, suggesting that the Resident Evil saga has two distinct “tracks” that are currently running parallel. These tracks include the recent remakes and the brand new games, and Takeuchi is already contemplating what happens when these two timelines finally intersect.

Takeuchi expressed the developer’s mindset clearly, noting that they are already thinking about the future. “Someday, the remake series will catch up with the era of the numbered titles, and we are already thinking about what we will do when that happens,” he stated.

This indicates that Capcom is not just reacting to the current market; they are proactively planning a grand narrative for the franchise. The anticipation is building for a moment when the evolution of the series will finally merge the classic horror experience with the modern graphical fidelity.
