DC role shaped Aaron Pierre’s Lanterns journey
The journey of an actor is often marked by unique experiences that shape their craft, and for Aaron Pierre, stepping into the world of DC comics is proving to be a rich tapestry woven from past adventures. His involvement in the upcoming series Lanterns is not just another role; it is a continuation of a trajectory that began long before he donned the costume of the Green Lantern.
Almost a decade ago, Pierre was part of the cast of the SyFy series Krypton, where he played Dev-Em, exploring the lives of Superman’s ancestors, including his grandfather, Seg-El. While the characters were worlds away from the DC universe, the experience of working within such a grand, expansive narrative provided a foundation for the challenges ahead.
That foundational experience has clearly informed his approach to the demanding world of the Green Lantern. When discussing his transition, Pierre noted that his time on Krypton helped him handle the sheer magnitude of the role in Lanterns.
“I think they’re two unique and individual experiences,” Pierre shared during a recent press event. “One thing that I did take from my experience on Krypton to the set of Lanterns is – I’m still young now, but I was even younger on Krypton – I took the experience of being on a set of that enormity and that magnitude. And how do you honor your character, service the character, and do the same thing for the story in such a grand environment and in such a grand set?”
This perspective underscores a commitment to deeper storytelling, suggesting that Pierre brings a level of gravitas to his work, ensuring that the scope of the narrative is honored with every performance.
From the cosmic drama of Lanterns, Pierre’s cinematic and franchise portfolio continues to expand. He is set to reprise his role as John Stewart in the upcoming Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow.
Furthermore, Pierre is also preparing for his next grand adventure, taking flight into the galaxy far, far away as part of the Star Wars: Starfighter franchise. The actor’s diverse journey from alien sagas to iconic superhero franchises solidifies his place as an actor capable of navigating vast, epic storytelling. Lanterns is currently streaming on HBO Max in the UK and Ireland.
