FF7R physical release online download required
The latest chapter in the Final Fantasy 7 adventure is finally arriving, but if you’re anticipating the physical release, there is a notable shift in how the game is packaged. The upcoming entry, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, will debut on a single disc.
This consolidation is a change from the previous installments in the series. Both Remake and Rebirth were initially distributed across two physical discs.
While a single-disc approach might seem convenient, it introduces a particular technical hurdle for fans who prefer the traditional experience of playing games right out of the box. Specifically, those purchasing the physical edition of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will need to download additional game data.
This necessity for extra data means that unlike the previous entries, which were designed to be entirely self-contained on disc (even before considering post-launch updates), the new game will require supplementary files, regardless of the platform you choose to purchase it on.
Essentially, the expectation of playing the game straight out of the box and having everything contained physically on the disc will not be the case for this latest installment.
