The world of video game development often hides behind massive budgets and intense focus, but sometimes the most memorable moments happen off-script. During a recent appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, actress Deborah Ann Woll shared one such unforgettable anecdote from her time on set for the upcoming God of War Laufey.

Woll recounted a mishap from her very first day: she broke a famous prop from the beloved The Last of Us set. Unbeknownst to her at the time, this object was actually a prop golf club.

When asked about the incident, Woll laughed, noting that she had been instructed to treat it like an axe. The result was immediate: she swung it with such force that the prop cracked and echoed throughout the volume.

The game director, Ariel Lawrence, shared his reaction to the unexpected destruction. He remarked that when she swung it so hard, it cracked, and it resonated through the soundscape, leading them to exclaim, “Hot damn, let’s go.”

This playful moment perfectly captures the dynamic atmosphere of the production. Woll joked that she was just trying to use some sort of sporting equipment, unaware of its deeper significance for fans.

While set-side antics are fun, the focus quickly turned back to the exciting project itself. God of War: Laufey is currently in development for the PS5 and is slated for release in February 2027. It stars Woll alongside actor Jack Quaid, who will embody Phranque, a gelatinous cube.

The narrative promises an epic continuation of the saga, picking up precisely where Laufey’s adventure leaves off. Fans are eagerly anticipating this new Kratos-led game to explore the next chapter in Kratos’ journey and his world.
