Naughty Dog Teases Two New Last of Us Games
The world of The Last of Us is continuing to expand, with Naughty Dog studio head Neil Druckmann dropping exciting news for fans of the iconic franchise. The latest updates confirm that the studio is currently immersed in the development of not one, but two new projects set to deepen the lore and expand the story canon.
Druckmann revealed that these forthcoming titles aim to push the narrative beyond the events of The Last of Us Part 1 and Part 2, suggesting a rich tapestry of new stories waiting to unfold. While details remain tightly guarded, the confirmation that these games are in the early stages of development signals a commitment to creating meaningful, expanded experiences within the world that means so much to the creators.
Beyond the mainline entries, there is progress on other ambitious projects. Druckmann also provided an update on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which is currently in development. After a period of relative silence since its announcement in 2024, the studio is now focusing on giving the game the time it needs to fully cook. Druckmann confirmed that Naughty Dog plans to fully reveal the details of Intergalactic in 2027.
The excitement surrounding the franchise recently reached a peak with The Last of Us Day, celebrated on September 26th. Naughty Dog marked the occasion by engaging the community through charity livestreams, fan giveaways, and the launch of new official social media accounts, further fueling the connection between the studio and its dedicated fanbase.
Meanwhile, the ongoing narrative universe continues to evolve across media. Work on the HBO television adaptation is also progressing, with developments in Season 3. Voice actors from the game have recently joined the television cast, adding fresh layers to the ongoing story. Showrunner Craig Mazin is also reportedly considering condensing his original four-season plan down to three seasons, keeping the focus tight and impactful as the series continues its journey.
