New Peggle game finally made for fans
There’s a certain magic found in simple physics, satisfying chaos, and the pure rush of sensory overload. For years, players have chased that feeling in games like Peggle, but a new contender is on the horizon, promising to fill that void with equally chaotic joy: Hyperdrop.
Coming soon to PC, Hyperdrop is billed as a pachinko roguelite from developer Dark Dark Goose and publisher Devolver Digital. The premise is delightfully simple: transform an empty pegboard into an unstoppable scoring machine. It’s a game where luck meets skillful physics, offering an addictive loop of upgrading and chaos.
The core gameplay revolves around manipulating the environment. Players gain control by upgrading the pegs, unlocking the ability to activate physics-defying gravity wells, explosive events, and multiball buffs whenever a strike occurs. But the mayhem doesn’t stop there. You can enhance your balls, making them larger and filled with volatile energy, or modify their properties to be sticky, extra-bouncy, or possess entirely unique physics behaviors. Prepare to giggle—this is chaos distilled.
Like any great roguelite, Hyperdrop encourages a journey of risk and reward. Players will inevitably face setbacks, but the goal is to master the chaotic combination of upgrades and buffs to achieve that perfect run, bouncing through increasingly difficult stages and facing off against epic boss battles. Every level offers a chance to tinker with your build and maximize your potential.
Visually, the game embraces a striking aesthetic. Fans of neon-soaked, high-energy environments will find plenty to absorb in Hyperdrop, drawing influence from visual masterpieces like Geometry Wars. The neon glow and dynamic physics give the game a vibrant, hypnotic energy that complements the frantic gameplay.
Beyond its own innovative mechanics, Hyperdrop taps into a growing market interest in peg-themed gaming. It joins a familiar roster of successors, including Peglin, which remixes peg gameplay with elements inspired by Slay the Spire, and Roundguard, a bouncy dungeon-crawler. These titles prove that the peg-shaped gap in the market is ripe for exciting innovation.
To celebrate the excitement around peg-themed gaming, the community is currently enjoying Steam Pins and Pegs Fest, an event running through August 20th. This festival features discounts on numerous games incorporating pins and pegs into their design, offering a fantastic opportunity to explore the peg-based genre at great prices.
